NSTE Members

High Holy Days ticket details were emailed to members on Friday 23 August.  Please contact the office on  nste.org.au  or (02) 9419 7011 if you did not receive the email or have any questions. High Holy Day tickets are only sent to those who have renewed their 2024 membership or have committed to a payment plan. Please contact the office if you have not paid your 2024 membership fees.

You will be required to show your ticket at the gate on your phone, or you can bring a copy you printed at home.

Members of Other WUPJ Synagogues

Please join us. Let us know that you are coming as early as possible, and no later than seven days before Rosh Hashana.

You will need to provide a letter or email confirming your membership at your home congregation, and your ticket will be sent to you via email.

Non-Members

Tickets are available for purchase or you may watch our livestream.

All non-members are required to complete a security check. Be in contact ASAP to ensure checks are complete in advance of the services you wish to attend.

Security

We take your safety seriously so a ticket is required for entry. Our security personnel are diligent, professional and are empowered to refuse entry, so please remember to bring your ticket and please do not take offence if they question you or ask to search your bag. They do not know everyone, and may not know that you are a long-standing member.

Parking

Parking inside the campus is by reservation only and is intended for those with mobility challenges.

We suggest parking on Chatswood Ave, Victoria Ave or Macquarie Street.

For access to the back gate we suggest parking on Baldry Street or Nicholson Street. The back gate will be available prior to the start of services.

If you require an on-site parking spot please call 9419 7011 and be ready to let us know which service/s you will be attending and the number plate, make and model of your car.

Wheelchair

The Sanctuary has ramp access to the right of the entry steps. The adjacent Max Joseph Building has a lift. Both buildings have accessible bathrooms.

Hearing Assistance

There are two methods to improve your ability to hear the services. The two methods are outlined below.

If you need help getting set up, call us to schedule a time for you to attend the sanctuary before the High Holy Days. We will help you get connected.

Hearing Loop

Our hearing loop is available for those with compatible hearing aids. Look for the T-coil or Telecoil switch on your hearing aid.  If your device uses an app, look for these options in the app.  Once you've enabled Telecoil, you should receive the NSTE audio feed directly into your hearing aid whenever you are in the Sanctuary or VJ Hall.

Audiofetch

If you don’t have a hearing aid or your hearing aid won't work with the hearing loop,  you can still hear us better using Audiofetch. You'll need three things:

  • Headphones or Bluetooth compatible hearing aids
  • Smartphone
  • Audiofetch App

Scan the QR Code  to quickly find the app, or search for "audiofetch" in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  Once you've got the app, look for instructions in the sanctuary foyer.

If you are not able to drive, or you have other needs which may impede your attendance, our Community Wellbeing Coordinator can try to arrange transport for you to and from the synagogue.

We can also try to arrange for you to attend a Rosh Hashana dinner or lunch at the home of a member family.

Please contact us if you'd like our help or would like to provide a lift or home hospitality.

Please silence your phone while anywhere on the campus.

If arriving late, please use the ramp to the side doors of the building.  Please do not use the front doors.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

We request that no food or drink be consumed in the Sanctuary by children or adults during any High Holy Day service. A light break-fast will be provided at the end of Yom Kippur Havdalah, lovingly prepared by volunteers.

Please consider the customs of the High Holy Days and dress in the spirit of the season. Many worshipers over the age of 13 wear a tallit during morning services, as well as on Kol Nidre, and kippot are usually white.

Please wait before entering or leaving the sanctuary at the following times in the service:

  • When the congregation is standing

  • When the Ark is open

  • During the Vidui (confession) on Yom Kippur

  • During the Rabbi’s sermon

At these times, Shammashim (helpers) will ask worshippers to wait for a suitable moment before entering.
