Balls Head Reserve and the Coal Loader – Waverton
Date: Tuesday, 23 October, 2018
Time: 10.00am – 12.30pm
Meeting point: 10am at Balls Head Road, corner Wood Street, Waverton. This is a short walk from Waverton Station, or there is on street parking.
Route: we will be walking along the foreshore of Berrys Bay and rejoining Balls Head Road, then via Balls Head Drive to the Coal Loader, which is currently a showcase for sustainability. Before European settlement, this area belonged to the Cammeraygal people. During the 1900s, it became an industrial site for the shipping of coal. There is an onsite café where refreshments can be purchased. The walk is approximately 5kms, along both sealed paths and bush tracks, including some sections with steps.
Registration: essential before 3pm Friday, 19 October, 2018, as numbers are limited.
This walk is designed for fit Seniors, who can manage both track and sealed pathways, at a reasonable pace, with no walking aids. If you are likely to be slow or need help, it is recommended you come with a friend who can accompany you.
